Magic Trek
It's Sean Lobban from Portsmouth, I hope you are well and had a good Christmas and New Year.
I'm writing to you about a sponsored event I'm organising called The 2012 Magic Trek.
It's a sponsored walk by magicians, children's entertainers and magic club members from Portsmouth to London to raise money for The Anthony Nolan Trust. And because it has a magic theme it visits magic clubs and societies on the way. A group of us did it in 2009, visiting Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Reading and Windsor and finishing at The Magic Circle. It was about 106 miles in six days.
In May of this year, we're walking to London through Sussex and I wondered if any members of Sussex Magic Circle would like to take part. The route is as follows...
Wednesday 16th May Portsmouth to Bognor Regis
Thursday 17th May Bognor Regis to Shoreham
Friday 18th May Shoreham to Lewes
Saturday 19th May Lewes to East Grinstead
Sunday 20th May East Grinstead to South Norwood
Monday 21st May South Norwood to The Magic Circle in London
This is about 112 miles in six days.
Although we won't be walking through Hassocks, we may be passing through areas where your members live. If any of them were able to take part (even for just a day) this would help with the publicity for the walk, as I would contact your local papers who would be interested in your members' taking part. And of course the more magicians walking would mean more sponsorship raised.

Southdowns - Matthew Garrett
Matthew Garrett, The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year, is coming to the South Downs Magicians for a lecture.
The lecture is on Wednesday 1st February at 8pm at Handcross parish hall and is entitled Magic at the Dining Table. It is £5 for visitors and SMC members are welcome to attend.
The lecture will include Matthew's Ninja Rings+ (his extension of Shoot Ogawa's effects), Monty the Spiv story telling routine (version of Sam the Bellhop) plus lots of other good stuff.
